3. Event Privacy

Momento App is designed for private sharing.

  • Event albums are accessible only to invited participants
  • Hosts control guest access and permissions
  • Content is not publicly searchable
  • We do not publish user uploads without permission

Users are responsible for sharing event links responsibly.

4. Face Search

Face search is an optional feature that a host may turn on for an individual event. It is off by default. When it is off, no photo in that event is scanned for faces and no face data is created.

What happens when a host turns it on

Photos uploaded to that event are scanned for faces, and a numeric representation of each detected face (a "face template") is created and stored with our face recognition provider, Amazon Web Services. Face templates are held separately per event and are never matched across different events.

A guest may then upload a selfie to find photos of themselves. The selfie is used to perform that one search and is then discarded — it is not stored, not added to the event album, not used to train any model, and not shared.

Host responsibility

A host who turns face search on confirms that their guests know their photos will be scanned this way and have agreed to it. Hosts are responsible for obtaining that consent before enabling the feature.

Retention and deletion

  • Face data is deleted when the host turns face search off for the event
  • Face data is deleted when the event is deleted
  • Face data for a photo is deleted when that photo is deleted
  • Face data is deleted when the host's account is purged

You may ask us to delete face data relating to you at any time using the contact details below, whether or not you are the host. We do not sell face data, use it for advertising, or use it to train models.

5. Storage and Security

Uploaded content is securely stored using trusted cloud infrastructure providers, including Cloudinary and Amazon Web Services S3.

Security measures include:

  • TLS/SSL encryption in transit
  • AES-256 encryption at rest
  • Access controls and authentication safeguards
  • Infrastructure monitoring and security auditing
  • Secure backup and recovery systems

While we implement industry-standard protections, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

We may use cookies and analytics tools to:

  • Keep users signed in
  • Improve platform performance
  • Understand feature usage
  • Enhance user experience
  • Measure website traffic and engagement

You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services
  • Maintain account functionality
  • Resolve disputes
  • Meet legal and operational obligations

Users may request deletion of their data subject to applicable laws and technical limitations.

9. Third-Party Services

Momento App may integrate with third-party services for hosting, analytics, authentication, communications, and payments. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
